Located in the region of Entre Douro and Vouga, Santa Maria da Feira is just 25 minutes away from Porto and important urban centers of the North.
In its historic center, is the imposing and magnificent castle, which each year serves as a natural setting to various municipality events, and the Lóios Convent Museum dedicated to the history of the county and the region.
The Castro Romariz, in the parish of Romariz, is a fortified settlement dating back to the last phase of the Late Bronze Age (c. 900-700 a. C.), which was occupied by the 1st century a.c. Castro Romariz is considered the most significant castrejo populated the region between Douro and Vouga, one of the main historical and tourist sites of the municipality.
In different parishes of the county can still visit the Paper Museum of the Land of Santa Maria (Paços de Brandão) where you can observe the different traditional manufacturing processes of the paper, the Museum of Santa Maria de Lamas which highlights an important collection of Art Sacra and articles of cork, Zoo Lourosa, the only park dedicated exclusively to birds of Portugal, as well as Visionarium – Science Center, where visitors are invited to actively participate in major scientific adventure.
